Spanish Broadcasting System Holds Telethon to Aid The Caribbean Victims
SBS and the "Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese" of Miami Unite in "Hand to Hand Between Brothers" Telethon
Spanish Broadcasting System ("SBS") (NASDAQ: SBSA) announced today that their Miami television and radio stations: WSBS Mega TV, WRMA-Romance 106.7 FM, WCMQ-Clásica 92.3 FM, WXDJ-El Zol 95.7 FM, WRZA-La Raza 106.3 FM and the Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Miami and Caritas International, will hold a telethon on September 14th to benefit the Caribbean victims in Cuba and Haiti who were impacted by Hurricane Ike and Gustav.
The telethon will be held this Sunday, September 14th from 7:00 PM to 10:00 PM EST and aired on Mega TV, with the support of SBS' Miami radio stations.
"We put together this telethon in just 48 hours and this says a lot about SBS' commitment to mobilizing the community to help those in need", said Eduardo Suarez, Vice President of Production for Mega TV. "We have a responsibility to our extended families and friends who live in these areas and who are desperately trying to recover and rebuild from these damaging storms."
Hurricanes Gustav and Ike destructive paths have caused over $4 billion in damages and have left hundreds of thousands of people homeless and destitute.
The telethon will take place at Spanish Broadcasting System's Operation Center located at 7007 N.W. 77 Ave., Miami, FL 33166. SBS will be accepting donations starting Sunday, September 14th at 4 p.m. First necessity articles such as canned food, bottled water, evaporated milk, powdered milk, beans, rice, etc. will be accepted at this location. Monetary donations, via phone (1-866-634-2881), will be accepted by the Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Miami. In addition, monetary donations can also be sent via regular mail to the Catholic Charities, 9401 Biscayne Blvd., Miami Shores, FL 33138 or by visiting www.ccadm.org and clicking on the "Donate Now" link.
"We always support those in need and how can we not respond to our brothers in crisis on the islands of Cuba, Haiti and the rest of the Caribbean. Among the confirmed artists taking part in this telethon are "Los 3 de la Habana", Jose Feliciano, Isaac Delgado, Hansel and Raúl, Amaury Gutierrez, Pancho Céspedes, Luis Enrique, Roberto Torres, Raúl del Sol, as well as the cast of the upcoming MegaSeries "Gabriel".
Renowned SBS' talents: Javier Ceriani, Gilberto Reyes, Miguelito Gonzalez, Ileana Garcia, Betzy Vazquez, the hosts from "El Vacilón de Miami", Luis Perozo, Danny Jr., Zuper Mario, Adrian Mesa, Ariel Ramirez, Chu Diaz y Carlos "Caferro" Rodriguez will participate in the telethon which will also include popular Mega TV Stars: Maria Elvira Salazar, Albita, Frank Cairo, Salvador Morales, Allan Villafaña, Daisy Ballmajo, Alan Jacott, Lourdes Ruiz Toledo, Alexis Valdés, Ernesto Pino, Ana Remos, Camilo Egaña, Maria Regina Bustamante and Dr. Manny.
