Honouring the Atlantic Accord: Stephen Harper's Raw Deal for Newfoundland & Labrador
ST JOHN'S, NEWFOUNDLAND AND LABRADOR - (Marketwire - Sept. 12, 2008) - At a town hall meeting with voters, New Democrat Leader Jack Layton blasted Stephen Harper for failing to keep his commitments to Newfoundland and Labrador.
"Unlike Stephen Harper, I won't say one thing while campaigning and say another when I am Prime Minister. I won't turn my back on Newfoundland and Labrador," declared Layton.
"Let me be clear," Layton told voters. "Stephen Harper has given Newfoundland & Labrador a raw deal. As Prime Minister, I will honour the Atlantic Accord. It was a commitment made to the people of Newfoundland & Labrador, and it must be honoured."
"You can choose a Prime Minister who stands up for everyday Canadians," said Layton. "With your support, I'll be that Prime Minister."
