BACKGROUND: The Honorable Richard A. Boucher, Assistant Secretary for the Bureau of South and Central Asian Affairs, U.S. Department of State, will deliver a very timely briefing on the current situation on the 1-2-3 U.S.-India Civil Nuclear Cooperation Agreement. This will be the first open briefing from the U.S. Administration to Members of Congress, staffers, professionals in the field, and the community sinceIndia was given a waiver by the 45-nation Nuclear Suppliers' Group (NSG) on Saturday, September 6, 2008 and the deal now goes back to the U.S. Congress for ratification.
Other speakers will include: Members of Congress including Members from the Congressional Taskforce on US-India Trade.
