Auto Industry: Hyperbrake(TM) Increases Vehicle Safety and Lowers Production Costs

GRIFFITH, Ind., Sept. 10 /PRNewswire/ -- The automotive industry is struggling to reduce production costs, increase fuel economy, increase vehicle safety and simplify systems complexity. Janel Hydro Company has completed preliminary testing of the Hyperbrake(TM) system this week inGriffith, Indiana on General Motors and Toyota vehicles. The results indicate substantially shorter stopping distances than stock brake systems as well as the elimination of the vacuum boost system. The Hyperbrake(TM) system has the potential to save precious underhood space, improve fuel economy, and reduce required parts and their associated costs.

Paul Goldsmith, Janel Hydro Vice President and Professional Race Driver, stated, "I am very excited with the preliminary testing results of the Hyperbrake(TM). The brake pedal feel is good and the vehicles' ability to stop, both controlled and panic, are definitely quicker than stock brake systems. I wish I had this system when I raced NASCAR and theIndianapolis 500." According to Dr. Henry Zhang of Purdue University, "Janel Hydro Hyperbrake will be a critical component for a high performance vehicle braking system."

The Hyperbrake(TM) system has the ability to work as a stand-alone brake system or in combination with the stock braking systems on new or used vehicles. It is a hydraulic intensification device that increases system pressures with minimal effort. It allows the removal of the vacuum booster system which is currently standard on all new automobiles. Through removal of the booster, weight and fuel savings are created while eliminating the cost of the vacuum booster. Our on-vehicle preliminary testing shows stops 17 to 30 feet less than vehicles without the Hyperbrake(TM) system installed, thereby increasing vehicular safety.

Janel Hydro Company was founded in 1991 inDetroit, Michigan. In 2007, work began at theGriffith, Indiana division to develop and test the Hyperbrake(TM) system. Janel Hydro is committed to improving the safety and efficiency of automotive braking systems through its' research and development efforts.
