"The Magic Garden" Blooms in a Groovy New First-Ever DVD Collection From KOCH Records
Perennial Retro Favorite Starring Carole & Paula Returns, With the Story Box, Sherlock the Squirrel and More for "Kids" of All Ages

Fans of all ages will take a magical journey
back to the garden when "The Magic Garden," one of the best-loved
children's shows of all time, blooms once again in an all-new comprehensive
DVD collection that captures the free-flowing and fantastic vibe of the
1970s at its best. From a wise-cracking squirrel to giggling daisies, the
bottomless Story Box to pigtail-sporting, guitar-strumming singing hosts
Carole & Paula, the new DVDs will have scores of devoted fans reliving
their "flower child" roots. "Carole and Paula in The Magic Garden" from
KOCH Records makes its colorful, musical debut in stores nationwide October
14, 2008.
"We're thrilled to be able to bring this engaging show to DVD for the very
first time," said Veronica Villarreal, Vice President of Marketing and
Business Development for KOCH Entertainment. "We've rarely seen fans as
loyal as those who watched 'The Magic Garden,' and it's easy to see why.
The infectious singing and bright and breezy storytelling in this
imaginative show are timeless. The new DVD collection will help 'The Magic
Garden' 'grow' an entirely new following, while long-time fans will
thoroughly 'dig' this blast from the past and the look back to a happy,
simpler time." The show's playful, creative and lively atmosphere welcomes
children to a safe place where they will laugh and learn. Enthusiastic
parents and educators agree 'The Magic Garden' has much to offer today's
children."

"Carole and Paula in The Magic Garden" stars the charming Carole & Paula,
along with their lovable friends, Sherlock the squirrel and Flapper the
bird. This collection includes many of the memorable moments and segments
that have made the show and its hosts -- named "Foxy Ladies of 1973" by
VH1's "I Love the '70s" -- cultural icons: the gentle humor of kid-size
jokes and riddles, classic storytelling fun from the costume-filled Story
Box and much more. The three-disc collection (2 DVDs+1 CD) contains ten of
the best half-hour episodes from the show's nearly 13-year television run
such as "Giving and Grumbling," "Happy Birthday Sherlock" and "Magic and
Imagining." The chockfull-of-fun set includes a rare interview with Carole
& Paula and a bonus musical CD featuring some of their sunniest songs and a
favorite story. The complete DVD set, which runs for approximately 255
minutes, will be available for an SRP of $29.98.
Carole Demas and Paula Janis sang "Hello" in each episode, adding various
children's names at the song's end -- and fans to this day can remember if
they heard their names. Among the show's notable enthusiasts is Tony
Award-nominated John Tartaglia, creator and puppeteer for two roles in
Broadway's Tony-winning "Avenue Q" and creator, executive producer and star
of "Johnny & The Sprites," whose work also has appeared on "Sesame Street."
Mr. Tartaglia's heartfelt introductory letter is part of the DVD
collection's full-color insert.
With their impressive credentials as both performers and early childhood
educators that helped turn the simple premise of "The Magic Garden" into a
show bursting with fun and some lessons too, Carole & Paula are still
performing together. During their years as teachers in the New York City
school system, the musical duo combined their teaching and performing
talents to form a quartet, The Festival Line Singers, with their brothers,
Alex Demas and Jonathan Rosen. Together, they gave nightly concerts as
part of the New York Shakespeare Festival in Central Park for several
seasons. Years later, they helped create "The Magic Garden." As business
partners, they work with their company, CAP Productions,
Inc.(www.caroleandpaula.com), writing, producing and performing for
audiences young and old. Carole starred in theatre, on prime-time TV
dramas and on Broadway, where she originated the role of "Sandy" in
Broadway's "Grease." Paula performed at such famous venues as Carnegie Hall
and Manhattan Center and combined her singing career with a focus on early
childhood education, including raising her own three children.
"The Magic Garden" aired between 1972 and 1984, from its home station, New
York's WPIX, and affiliates, and on cable systems, becoming one of the most
successful regional shows in history! The series was selected for the
permanent collection of The Paley Center for Media (The Museum of
Television and Radio) and was commended by Action for Children's
Television.
