Choose from 10 Hypervisors when delivering Virtual PCs or convert your IGEL Universal Desktop to a Citrix® XenDesktop Appliance with just a mouse click

Reading, UK - September 10, 2008 - IGEL Technology, the world's third largest thin client vendor, today announced the availability of its latest Microsoft® Windows® CE firmware. The inclusion of the Ericom® PowerTerm® WebConnect client allows customers to choose from 10 hypervisors when delivering virtual PCs. The firmware upgrade also includes support for the Citrix XenDesktop™ Appliance standard. All Windows CE-based IGEL thin clients can be switched, with just one mouse click, from a traditional IGEL Universal Desktop to a tightly defined virtual PC using ICA to access Citrix XenDesktop. These features come in addition to the existing support for the Leostream connection broker that can connect to a VMware VDI infrastructure plus other digital services such as terminal emulation, web and media player.

Ericom delivers virtualisation choice
IGEL's CE models have had their Ericom functionality upgraded so they now have the complete Ericom PowerTerm WebConnect client integrated. This provides users with secure, local and remote access to applications and desktops running on Microsoft Windows Terminal Services, Virtual Desktops (VDI), Blade PCs and legacy terminal emulation based systems. With support for 10 hypervisors, including VMware® ESX, Citrix® XenServer, Microsoft® Hyper-V, Oracle® VM, Virtual Iron and others, Ericom PowerTerm WebConnect enables organisations to flexibly choose the VDI environment that best suits their needs.

"With this latest firmware release, IGEL delivers the strongest virtual PC access capability in the market using a Windows CE-based platform," said Stephen Yeo, worldwide strategic marketing director for IGEL Technology. "IGEL's Windows CE range of Universal Desktops is perfect for users who want strong virtualisation capability, Microsoft compatibility and an affordable price tag."

All IGEL Windows CE-based models will ship with the new firmware from September 10th. Existing IGEL customers with compatible models can download the latest firmware free of charge at www.IGEL.com.
