City of Tucson Goes Live With Tata Consultancy Services Tax Mantra(R)

A highly configurable system, Tax Mantra streamlines the tax administration and collection process, leading to more efficient workflow. The solution helps theCity of Tucson decrease the preparation time of a single sales tax audit packet by up to 4 hours. Tax Mantra is also expected to help reduce the time it takes to issue a license from as long as 2 months to no more than 2 weeks.

Web-enabled and secure, Tax Mantra is a complete, user-friendly tax administration solution with fully integrated processes. It replaces and modernizes theCity of Tucson's old mainframe system of disparate and disconnected legacy applications that required manual and redundant work processes. Crucial for a city that according to a 2006 US Census Bureau estimate has a downtown population of 518,956 and growing. The new system enables theCity of Tucson to streamline the business process of collecting taxes, provide taxpayer friendly services via the Web and integrate various departments to enable a paperless office.

Business owners inTucson are now able to file tax returns and make payments through Tucson Tax and License Online. Filed tax returns and payments are transmitted overnight into the system and made available to City officials, enabling them to answer and resolve customer questions immediately.
