CarInsuranceList.com Works for Motorcycle Safety
With gasoline hovering in the mid-range
between $3 and $4 a gallon, American drivers are shifting their preference
from gas-guzzling SUVs and trucks to smaller, more fuel efficient vehicles
and to motorcycles, which return more than twice the fuel economy of even a
small compact. Unfortunately, the presence of so many new and inexperienced
riders on the road has also elevated the number of motorcycle-related accidents. In recognition of this fact,
CarInsuranceList.com has added a section on motorcycle accidents in
addition to its existing car accident statistics, research articles,
car insurance quotes, and insurance company reviews in the interest of
promoting safety and awareness.
"We certainly understand why people are turning to motorcycles to beat the
high cost of fuel," said Jon Davidson, CarInsuranceList.com CEO. "Even
beyond the fact that these riders have to figure out how their bikes fit
into their overall insurance picture, they need to be aware of what causes
motorcycle accidents and how to keep themselves out of trouble. Proper
training and safety awareness are crucial for new riders."
The most common causes of motorcycle accidents involve the rider's ability
to judge the road in relation to the bike's stability. Rural roads, for
instance, are not as well maintained and have more areas of exposed dirt
and gravel where the motorcycle will perform differently and have less
traction. Additionally, accidents at night when a motorcycle is less
visible to other drivers account for 60 percent of motorcycle fatalities.
"It should go without saying that you don't need to climb on your bike
under the influence, but new riders are really susceptible to the idea that
now they're bikers and bikers are wild," said Davidson. "That kind of
behavior, coupled with new riders trying to move at speeds they just can't
handle, is the root of many tragic accidents. Yes, we want to get affordable car insurance and
other vehicle policies for these people, but we also want them to ride
safe. For their sake and ours."
Training from recognized authorities like the Motorcycle Safety Foundation
should be the first thing a new rider's to do list. Helmets are essential;
41 percent of fatalities are instances when the deceased was not wearing
protective head gear. "New motorcyclists need to be well educated, well
equipped, and responsible," said Davidson. "Driving sober and staying
within your limitations as an inexperienced rider will save your life and
the lives of those on the road with you."
Specialized sections of this nature reflect CarInsuranceList's commitment
to educating readers as well as to providing them with multiple insurance
quotes. A request for a quote matches a user with an area company prepared
to meet state requirements at a good price. Additionally, readers will find
articles on accident statistics and defensive driving along with "how to"
information on topics like avoiding road rage.
New material is added regularly to all sections at the CarInsuranceList.com site. The
