Harry & David Offers Early Holiday Gift to Customers

MEDFORD, Ore., Sept. 7 /PRNewswire/ -- Harry & David, the country's largest and oldest direct marketer of fine gourmet gift baskets, fresh fruit, food gifts and wine, announced today that its customers will be receiving an early holiday gift of their own: substantially lower delivery and processing charges on most orders. The company projects that nearly 90% of its orders will see dramatically lower delivery charges beginning now.

"For Harry & David customers, this year's unprecedented fuel costs needn't put a damper on their holiday gift-giving", said Bill Williams, President and CEO of Harry & David. "For most orders, customers will pay less this year for sending their gifts from us, while at the same time receiving the same dependable customer service and the same excellent gifts."

Beginning this week, customers will see the new and dramatically lower delivery charges for the first time. The savings this year over last year for single-item orders will range from over 15% to 35%. Due to fuel costs and currency exchange rates,Hawaii,Alaska,Canada and overseas delivery charges will be higher, as will the multiple shipments of Fruit-of-the-Month Club(R) gifts.
