Designer Hires Strippers To Model Lingerie
By Robert Paul Reyes
"Lingerie creator Heather Thomson got a jump-start on the New York Fashion Week, turning to some of the city's best pole dancers to display her new line of Yummie Tummie underwear on Thursday.
Thomson chose a novel way to promote her lingerie. She held a competition of dancers who perform gymnastics-like routines on brass poles at some of Manhattan's poshest strip clubs and picked eight to model her Yummie Tummie Shapewear." Reuters
Some folks may consider it scandalous and inappropriate to hire strippers to model lingerie, but I think it's a novel and creative idea.
If a designer wants to unveil her latest collection of mumus, she would be smart to hire Oprah Winfrey and Rosie O'Donnell as models, why shouldn't a designer hire strippers to model underwear?
I would guess that most women identify more with the body shape of strippers, than they do with anorexic-looking supermodels. I've frequented a few strip clubs, and I've seen strippers of all sizes and shapes. But I have never seen a supermodel who didn't look like she wasn't on a starvation diet.
"Her Shapewear line, which has received rave reviews from Oprah Winfrey, among other style mavens, is designed to smooth women's midsections with the help of a little microfiber plus trendy colours and trims." Reuters
I have never seen a supermodel who needed to wear girdle-like lingerie to smooth out her midsection. Choosing strippers as models was a practical, creative, original and outstanding idea.
