Students to Participate in 9/11 Remembrance Ceremony
Local students will join City leaders to share reflections on the events of Sept. 11, 2001 during the City's 7th annual remembrance ceremony. The public is invited to attend the ceremony at 9 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 11 at the Veterans Memorial in City Lions Park.
"The memory of the Sept. 11th terrorist attacks has not faded and it is appropriate to come together as a community to reflect and to remember lost lives and heroic sacrifices," said Fire Chief Dan Haverty. "We will once again pay tribute to those who perished and to the rescue workers who put their lives on the line that day. They were the true heroes of 9/11."
In addition to students from local schools, Folsom remembrance ceremony participants will include the Marine Corps League and the City of Folsom Fire and Police Department Honor Guards. Mayor Eric King and several City Council members also will attend the ceremony.
