Owens Corning Leads 2007 Asphalt Roofing Manufacturers Association Safety Performance
TOLEDO, Ohio, Sept. 4 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Owens Corning (NYSE: OC)
tied for top honors in the Asphalt Roofing Manufacturers Association's (ARMA)
annual accident prevention competition. Owens Corning's roofing facilities in
Savannah, Ga., andKearny N.J., received ARMA's highest honor, the Presidents
Award, in their plant size categories. Roofing facilities inSummit, Ill. and
Irving, Texas took second and third place, respectively, in their plant size
categories.
Owens Corning asphalt plants were also recognized with the ARMA Award of
Excellence for having the best three year average in the industry.
"This is an honor for our employees who continue to work toward the
ultimate goal of zero injuries at all Owens Corning facilities," said Sheree
Bargabos, president of the Roofing and Asphalt business. "Owens Corning's
roofing and asphalt business led the industry in the number of injury-free
plants in 2007. While our recordable incident rate is far below the industry
average, we are committed to working even harder to improve our safety
performance."
Scoring for the competition was based on the size of the plant, and the
number and severity of injuries that occurred.
