Aid Sudan Nashville Holds Annual Fundraising Dinner
NASHVILLE, Tenn., Sept. 4 /PRNewswire/ -- Serving the Sudanese community
for two years, Aid Sudan Nashville reflects on the past and makes plans for
the future at an annual fundraising dinner on Tuesday, September 9th. The
Nashville office raises funds to support programs for the approximately 7,000
Sudanese that reside in theNashville area -- the third largest population of
southern Sudanese inthe United States. Local sponsors of the event include
Barger-Tanner Construction, Northwestern Mutual, Scott Fowler Productions and
The Law Office of Lannie J. Cates.
In addition to local work, theNashville office supports initiatives in
southernSudan, including building and repairing water wells, providing
educational tools and supplying medicine. The organization is also committed
to establishing the local church by supporting three Sudanese missionaries and
building a radio station infrastructure to reach remote villages with music,
hygiene training and the Word of God.
"After listening to various stories of war and courage from Sudanese who
have endured much more than I could imagine, I became burdened and impassioned
forSudan's country and people," said Leigh Ann Cates,Nashville Director for
Aid Sudan. "At Aid Sudan, our mission is to develop strong Sudanese
communities and implore others to join the cause of the Sudanese people."
At the fundraising dinner, attendees will hear from Aid Sudan's Executive
Director Peter Swann, as well as James Maker Manyang, a Sudanese refugee who
relocated to the U.S. and now serves as a missionary with Aid Sudan. The
festivities will feature dinner from Stoveworks Catering and a silent auction.
The event takes place Tuesday, September 9th from 6 p.m. until 8:30 p.m.
