Boise Inc. Louisiana Mill to Resume Production Following Hurricane Gustav

DERIDDER, La., Sept. 3 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Boise Inc. (NYSE: BZ) announced today that operations impacted by Hurricane Gustav are expected to return to full production within the next 24 hours. The company's containerboard and newsprint operations inDeRidder, Louisiana, were curtailed in advance of the storm.

"Our curtailment allowed adequate time for employees to evacuate safely from the storm and to ensure an orderly shutdown of our facility," said Robert Strenge, Senior Vice President, Manufacturing. "No employees were injured in the storm, and the facility sustained no damage. The mill is environmentally stable and experienced no upsets during the storm."

The company's containerboard and newsprint operations inDeRidder have an annual capacity of over one million tons. Downtime at the mill is expected to be approximately 10,000 tons, including 3,500 tons of newsprint and 6,500 tons of linerboard. Operations and maintenance personnel are working diligently to resume normal operations.
