About Caroline Wozniacki:

Caroline Wozniacki, an eighteen year old girl born July 11, 1990, is a Danish tennis player who in two and a half year's time jumped from 1397 to 18 in world tennis rankings. She is the only Danish woman currently in the Top 400 on the WTA Tour, and more importantly the Top 20. She stands in a small class of WTA rising stars considered tennis 'teen queens.' She is a future Grand Slam champion.

Caroline has always been a sports fan -- like the rest of her family. Her parents, Piotr and Anna Wozniacki, were both professional athletes.

From the age of two, Caroline and her four year older brother Patrik were avid swimmers, runners and ball-players. When Patrik started playing soccer, she followed closely in his footsteps. And when he took up tennis, Caroline instantly fell in love with the sport. Caroline could be seen playing tennis for hours with her dad in the tennis club of their hometown. Soon, she could beat her big brother, handily. Off-course he immediately changed his sport and is today a professional soccer player.

The hard training quickly paid off. When she won the singles title in the Osaka Mayor's Cup in Japan at 14 years of age in October 2004, it was clear that she had the potential to achieve great results as a tennis player. Since then, she won quite a few junior titles, including the Junior Championships in Wimbledon 2006. Now in the WTA, her recent title wins at the Nordea Nordic Light Open and New Haven's US Open Series Event bookended a stunning performance at the Beijing Olympics last month. Winning back-to-back WTA tournaments is something most athletes could only dream of.

Apart from the hard, daily training and the tournaments around the world, Caroline also goes to school. This fall she'll start her four-year higher education. Luckily, the school she'll attend has a special line for athletes, giving her the chance to take time off for competitions.

Both on and off the court, Caroline is known for her trademark smile and outgoing personality. Her fluency in 4 languages has helped her cross borders and cultures, to make friends with other athletes in the WTA.
