AT&T Offers $2,500 Reward for Information in Copper Telephone-Cable Thefts
CHARLESTON, W.Va., Sept. 3 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- AT&T Inc. (NYSE: T)
has announced a $2,500 reward for information leading to the arrest and
conviction of those responsible for the thefts of AT&T copper telephone
cables, which have occurred recently in the area nearLittle Birch. The steady
rise in the price of copper has led some people to take extreme measures,
including stealing copper cables from houses and telephone poles.
AT&T is working with law enforcement agencies inBraxton County to catch
those responsible for the thefts. AT&T urges shop owners, employees and anyone
with information on the recent copper thefts to call 1-(800) 807-4205.
The $2,500 reward is being offered for information provided through the
above number that leads to the arrest and conviction of people involved. A
reward will not be paid unless an arrest and conviction is made; the offer
expires October 1, 2008. It is a felony under federal law to tamper with phone
lines that the public uses to place emergency calls or to request emergency
assistance.

responsible for the crimes are apprehended and punished. We think the reward
