Lake Express Ferry Carrying More Than 1,500 Motorcycles During Harley-Davidson 105th Anniversary Celebration
MILWAUKEE, Aug. 29 /PRNewswire/ -- Most of the more than 150,000
Harley-Davidson riders inMilwaukee for theHarley-Davidson 105th Anniversary
Celebration are arriving via the open road. But, over five days, more than
1,500 riders are traveling over water on the Lake Express High Speed Ferry
betweenMilwaukee andMuskegon, Michigan. Many riders have opted to take the
Lake Express to the celebration to avoid the hassle of having to drive through
Chicago traffic.
"I rode throughChicago for the 100th and it was a rough experience for
me," said Joe Garber fromSouth Lyon, Michigan. "I just thought I'd take the
easy way this time."
The ship is packed, as the vehicle deck, which normally holds 46 cars and
12 motorcycles, has been converted to hold 120 bikes. Riders have come from
Montreal,New York City,Toronto andOhio just to name a few.
"We are very excited to have so manyHarley-Davidson's riding the ship
over the past few days," said Lake Express President Ken Szallai. "The Lake
Express is a great alternative to driving throughChicago for bikers, as they
have the opportunity to sit back, relax and talk with otherHarley riders
about their experiences as they bring their bikes home toMilwaukee for the
celebration."
Harley-Davidson's 105th Anniversary Celebration is being held August 27-31
