London, U.K. - 28 August 2008 - The European Semantic Technology Conference (ESTC2008) has announced its final programme for the two day event in Vienna, Austria, 24th - 26th September 2008.

Putting semantic technology on the European business agenda, the ESTC2008, now in its second year, brings together leading thinkers, developers, and senior practitioners to discuss the application of semantic technology in industry, commerce and government.

Over 30 presentations and invited talks will explore the business opportunities of semantic technologies, in many industry sectors including Aeronautics, Law, Telecommunications, eTourism Life Science and Business Intelligence.

Programme highlights include Mills Davis of Project10x sharing forecasts on the growing market for semantic technologies. Senior researchers, developers and executives from BT, SAP, Thomson Reuters and others will give insights into how global enterprises are implementing semantic technology solutions in data integration and analysis and explain their vision of an Internet of Services that transforms services into tradable goods that are offered, sold, executed and consumed globally via the internet.

"Semantic technology is increasingly finding its way into real world applications. ESTC2008 aims to make the experience and learning of organisations speaking at the event available to others, to explain the business benefits and to accelerate the uptake of this important new technology," comments Dr. John Davies, Head of Next Generation Web Research at BT and Chairman of the conference.

"ESTC is a premium event as it draws the best and the brightest in the European semantic technology community including researchers, vendors and users. The programme clearly shows how the technology is coming out of the lab and into the enterprise where its impact will be profound and exciting", adds Alexander Wahler, CEO of STI International.

ESTC2008 is organised by Semantic Technology Institute International (STI International).
