More Than One Thousand Lawyers to Participate in Litigation Conference
CHICAGO, Aug. 27 /PRNewswire/ -- More than 1,000 lawyers who are members
of DRI -- The Voice of the Defense Bar will meet inNew Orleans from October
22 - 26 for a pragmatic look at how complex litigation affects businesses and
individuals. It is the organization's 13th annual meeting.
Titled "Spice Up Your Practice in the Big Easy," the DRI meeting will
feature speakers such as former U.S. House Speaker Newt Gingrich, journalists
Juan Williams and Eleanor Clift, along with scores of prominent legal
profession leaders from the judiciary, law firm, and in-house counsel sectors.
"Our Annual Meeting provides our members with the opportunity to ensure
that their practices maintain pace with all current litigation trends, ranging
from the latest in class action strategy to the short and long-term legal
implications of breaking events in the financial markets," said John Martin,
current President of DRI -- The Voice of the Defense Bar and a partner with
Thompson & Knight inDallas.
DRI's Annual Meeting "will have speakers, panel discussions, or workshops
on virtually every legal issue in today's headlines, including product
liability, intellectual property, drug and medical liability, commercial
litigation and professional liability, among others," added Marc E. Williams,
President-Elect of DRI -- The Voice of the Defense Bar and a partner at
Huddleston Bolen, LLP inHuntington, West Virginia. Many of these programs
provide CLE (continuing legal education) credits as well.
Of particular importance, DRI Annual Meeting attendees will also address
"tangible, measurable ways by which this organization and its members can
continue to contribute to an efficient and effective legal system so that
companies and individuals are fairly and competently represented in all
litigation," according to John Kouris, DRI's Executive Director.
