Entergy Names Burke New General Counsel and Chief Legal Officer for EquaGen LLC
NEW ORLEANS, Aug. 26 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Entergy Corporation
(NYSE: ETR) continues to make regulatory progress toward achieving the
spin-off of its non-utility nuclear assets. The company has announced that
Terence Burke will become general counsel and chief legal officer for EquaGen
LLC, the joint venture operating company that will be owned 50 percent by
Entergy and 50 percent by Enexus Energy Corporation. Enexus is the company
Entergy will spin off as the new owner of its wholesale nuclear plants.
Burke has been associate general counsel for Entergy Corporation, where he
was lead counsel for Entergy's nuclear business.
Burke joined Entergy in 2005 and has managed legal services for the
company's regulated and unregulated nuclear operations, including legal
aspects of nuclear business development, regulation, relicensing, litigation,
and other areas. Prior to joining Entergy, he was a vice president and deputy
general counsel at Allegheny Energy Corporation and chief counsel at Niagara
Mohawk Power Corporation. He began his career at theChicago law firm of
Schiff, Hardin & Waite.
He earned his bachelor's degree in philosophy and Spanish at Hamilton
College, and his juris doctor from the Law School of the University of
Chicago.
Michael Kansler, chief nuclear officer for Entergy who will head the new
EquaGen organization, said, "Terry's extensive background in utility law,
especially with matters involving nuclear operations and management, will

EquaGen will be headquartered inJackson, Miss., as a joint venture of
Entergy Corporation and Enexus Energy Corporation. Enexus will own six
wholesale reactors that are currently part of Entergy's 11-reactor fleet and
that will be operated by EquaGen, inNew York,Massachusetts,Michigan and
Vermont. In addition, EquaGen will provide management and technical services
to the Entergy Nuclear plants inArkansas,Louisiana andMississippi that are
part of its utility-owned generation portfolio.
