The publication's 27th annual list ranks the fastest growing private companies in the United States. Borrego Solar ranked 261 on the list, having grown more than 1,000 percent over the past three years. Borrego Solar also ranked 11 in the Inc. list of top energy companies -- the fastest growing of this year's categories -- with energy businesses growing by a median 298 percent in the past year. The company has experienced even greater maturation in 2008 and conservatively expects to double its $30 million 2007 revenue by the end of the year.

Methodology

The 2008 Inc. 5000 list measures revenue growth from 2004 through 2007. To qualify, companies must be U.S.-based and privately held, for profit, independent -- not subsidiaries or divisions of other companies -- as of December 31, 2007, and have had at least $200,000 in revenue in 2004, and $2 million in 2007.
