Frontier Airlines Announces EarlyReturns(R) Changes
DENVER, Aug. 21 /PRNewswire/ -- Frontier Airlines today announced changes
to its EarlyReturns mileage program, including new mileage redemption levels
and fee structures. The changes will be effective Sept. 15, 2008. These
changes are a necessary step in the continuing battle against high fuel costs.
E-mails detailing the fee and mileage changes will be sent to all EarlyReturns
members this week.
"We have always been incredibly proud of our EarlyReturns program, which
offers one of the lowest redemption levels in the industry," said Frontier
Vice President of Marketing, Sales and Distribution, Jim Young.
"Unfortunately, with oil still nearly 50% higher than just six months ago, we
had to review the current structure and revise elements that will afford our
ability to remain both customer friendly and cost conscious. Even with the
new fees and redemption levels, we still offer one of the most competitive
programs in the industry."
Starting Sept. 15, 2008, Frontier is adding a $25 non-refundable
redemption fee per ticket on EarlyReturns award tickets. Award tickets
purchased within 14 days of travel will be charged a $75 non-refundable
expedite fee per ticket. Both fees are waived for EarlyReturns Summit
members. The $75 expedite fee will also be waived for PLUS redemptions
(Ascent & Summit elite members only) and all redemptions booked via Weekend
Web Fares. Additionally, any award ticket changes or cancellations resulting
in a redeposit of miles will be subject to a $75 change fee. This change fee
is also waived for Summit members.
The mileage redemption level for a domestic roundtrip ticket will be
increasing from 15,000 to 20,000 miles. All other mileage redemption levels
will increase by 5,000 to 10,000 miles.
In advance of the fee and mileage redemption changes, Frontier is
launching a sale on EarlyReturns miles via the "Buy Miles" tool on their Web
site. Between Aug. 18 and Sept. 30, 2008, EarlyReturns miles can be purchased
at nearly a 30% discount. Members can top off their accounts and, subject to
availability, redeem for award travel prior to the increase in redemption
levels on Sept. 15.
