WARSAW, N.C., Aug. 21 /PRNewswire/ -- In light ofCalifornia's upcoming ban on trans fats, the nation's first all natural no trans fat line of commercial cooking oils is ready to meet the needs of restaurants and institutions throughout the Golden State. Whole Harvest will be attending The Western Food Expo at theLos Angeles Convention Center and exhibiting its entire line of no trans fat culinary oils at booth 1052.

Whole Harvest is no newcomer to the state ofCalifornia. Stater Bros., the largest privately owned supermarket chain inSouthern California, has been using no trans fat Whole Harvest Culinary Oils since 2006. Stater Bros., which operates 165 supermarkets inSouthern California, turned to Whole Harvest for its all-natural approach to oils that do not involve hexane, a flammable solvent typically used in the production of most commercial cooking oils. Using a patented expeller-pressed process, the Whole Harvest line of culinary oils contains no trans fats, retains natural Omega-3's and Vitamin E, is flavor neutral and has an extended fry life in comparison to traditional oils.

In addition to being all-natural, the Whole Harvest line of commercial culinary oils is not hydrogenated, the process that actually creates harmful trans fatty acids that have been shown to play a key role in the development of heart disease, diabetes and stroke.

"The Whole Harvest line of cooking oils offers a unique alternative to the standard cooking oils used throughout the restaurant and food preparation industries," said Bob Dawson, Chief Operating Officer of Whole Harvest. "With the extended fry life, we can eliminate trans fats and reduce cost at the same time. We unequivocally believe we have the very best product on the market and are proud to have provided Stater Bros. the world's best oil for the last few years."

The Whole Harvest line of culinary oils can now be found in numerous restaurants and institutions across the country and includes Whole Harvest Smart Fry(R) (commercial cooking oil), Whole Harvest Culinary Oil (salads, sauteing and baking) and Whole Harvest SmartCoat(R) (non-stick pan spray).

The demand for Whole Harvest has increased exponentially since the FDA mandated nutrition labels note trans fat content in 2006. Since that time, a number of cities have passed laws prohibiting trans fats, most notablyNew York City andPhiladelphia.California is the first state to ban trans fats on a statewide basis. The newCalifornia law mandates that trans fats be removed from restaurant products beginning in 2010 and from all baked goods by 2011.
