Pension Funds Target Distressed & Opportunity Markets, More at iiBIG Las Vegas Forum

iiBIG presents the 2nd Annual Distressed &
Turnaround Investment Forum, scheduled for September 22-23, 2008, at the
Palazzo/Venetian Congress Center in Las Vegas. Along with the usual
suspects -- hedge funds, asset-based lenders, private equity firms, and
other investment banks -- eyeing the distressed markets, institutional
investors are keen in this area as well.
Ed Burton, Trustee of the Virginia Retirement System (VRS), will speak on
"Institutional Investor Perspective on the Distressed & Opportunity
Investing Markets" and address why pension funds see opportunity in the
current crisis. Last August -- at the beginning of the economic downturn --
the $57 billion-VRS granted its investment staff broader authority to
invest in the distressed debt area. Since then, many other IIs have
followed their lead.
The conference will also review such topics as the structural analysis of
the market "meltdown," credit crunch, and resulting investment
opportunities; the current role of hedge funds, asset-based lenders,
private equity firms in the distressed and turnaround markets; cross-border
and international distressed debt opportunities; corporate governance in
the zone of insolvency; second lien, tranche B and junior sub debt in
distressed debt investing strategies; and much more.
Hear the latest on distressed debt, turnaround, and opportunity investing
and much more from a 44-member executive speaking faculty consisting of
fund managers, lenders, turnaround consultants and institutional investors.
