KPMG Forensic Launches Updated File Preservation and Collection Software Program
NEW YORK, Aug. 20 /PRNewswire/ -- KPMG LLP, the U.S. audit, tax and advisory firm, today announced an enhanced File Preservation Program (FPP) with an encryption-handling capability that will help attorneys manage the risk of missing key e-mail messages during their document review.
"During collection efforts, this FPP enhancement will identify and decrypt messages for our clients, giving them an increased level of confidence that they have a more complete inventory of e-mail messages that may be subject to discovery, which also will give them a better understanding of their content and risk," said Kelli Brooks, a principal in the firm's Forensic practice and a leader in the Forensic Technology Service's unit.
FPP is a targeted collection tool that KPMG utilizes to help clients identify potentially relevant documents in discovery. It is designed for single-session harvesting of information from multiple sources -- a workstation hard drive, e-mail server, thumb drives and other data hosts -- and can decrypt the messages during the collection process, potentially reducing both the time and cost of processing e-mails for content review.
"Development of this encryption-handling tool in our ESI line of products stemmed from our professionals identifying an increasing trend in the use of message-level encryption for sensitive issues," Brooks said, adding that any selected document can be gathered at the file level and the individual e-mail level.
