TCS Wins $3.3 Million U.S. Marine Corps Contract for Wireless Point-to-Point Link Network Systems and Support

Contract Awarded to Provide Cost-Effective, Reliable Last-Mile Communications to Deployed Remote Locations

TeleCommunication Systems, Inc. (TCS) (NASDAQ: TSYS), a leading provider of mission-critical wireless communications, today announced that it has received a $3.3 million contract to support the U.S. Marine Corps for its Wireless Point-to-Point Link (WPPL) Network solution including ongoing maintenance and support. The order requires TCS to deliver systems for use by the U.S. Marine Corps in support of Operation Enduring Freedom (OEF) and Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF) over the next sixty to ninety days.

During the next several weeks, TCS anticipates securing additional WPPL orders with a total value exceeding $40 million against its 2007 World-Wide Satellite Systems contract with the U.S. Marine Corps with a potential total value of $70 million including all option years, through 2011.

"Reliable and uninterrupted communications in the field are critical for deployed troops especially in places like Iraq," stated Michael Bristol, Senior Vice President, TCS Government Solutions Group. "With our proven track record of successfully providing the Department of Defense with wireless technology to support the transmission of multiple types of data, TCS is the go-to resource to meet the communications needs of our armed forces. It is an honor to provide this technology to our brave men and women protecting freedom around the world."

The TCS WPPL Network Package provides deployed Marines in remote areas of the world with point-to-point and point-to-multipoint, line-of-sight and non-line-of-sight transmission of voice, video and data communications. TCS WPPL provides critical last-mile communications and allows warfighters to extend their Local Area Network (LAN) to deployed locations by providing services over terrestrial microwave radio links. The TCS WPPL allows for Non-Classified Internet Protocol Router (NIPR), Secret Internet Protocol Router (SIPR), Voice over IP (VoIP), Video, and Defense Switched Network transmission of vital information up to 35 miles point-to-point or 15 miles point-to-multipoint.

TCS' Government Solutions Group began with the company's founding in 1987 as a government systems integrator. Today, TCS provides professional services to public sector clients in the federal, state, and local government and higher education markets and continues to maintain a sterling record of successful performance in engineering, management, and integration. The company is also a leading provider of fixed and deployable communication solutions for government customers and mobile operators requiring high reliability and security, including the U.S. Army, U.S. Air Force, U.S. Navy, Unified Combatant Commands, U.S. Department of State (DoS), U.S. Secret Service (USSS), and various U.S. intelligence agencies.
