Comment on Response to "More Talks on Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia Name Issue"
It's very disputable whether Alexander the Great was so called "Greek". It's very unclear what Greek meant in those times. It's known that Alexander fought with the Greek tribes and that the Greeks didn't consider the Greeks Macedonian.
But that happened over 2300 years ago. What happened during those 2300 years? According to the explanation given here, you would think that there was nothing for 2300 years, and then all of a sudden those "Slavs" fell from the sky and wanted to "adopt" the "Greek" history.
Those "Slavs" happened to be there for over a thousand years, and happened to live on t he territory of Macedonia. They also happened to identify as Macedonians, with a unique and specific culture.
So, no matter who or what Alexander was, that doesn't give a right to the modern Greek to claim Macedonia and continue their old Genocide toward the Macedonians people. There was Rome, there was Ancient Greece, there was Ancient Macedonia, let's leave it to the pass, and not try to use is for fascist propaganda and ethnic cleansing.
