TriGeo Wins Campus Technology 2008 Innovator Award for Ohio Dominican University Information Security Renovation Project

ODU Selected TriGeo Security Information Manager to Automate Network Monitoring

TriGeo Network Security, the leading provider of security information and event management (SIEM) technology for midmarket enterprises, received Campus Technology's 2008 Innovator Award for its strategic involvement in Ohio Dominican University's (ODU) information security renovation project. The university selected TriGeo Security Information Manager (SIM) to automatically monitor network actions and enforce IT policies to mitigate internal and external threats.

ODU's project was one of only 14 winners out of nearly 300 submissions. The 3,000-student university was recognized for its innovative method of discarding all preconceived views of its existing information security strategy and undertaking a comprehensive review of its entire information security posture after a minor security breach. The result: a multi-layered, ground-up approach where ODU collaborated with vendor partners to analyze IT failures, inefficiencies, and present and future threats. This holistic approach of security remediation, awareness training, network monitoring tools, and quarterly penetration tests has led to:

-- A vastly improved security environment, on the path to ISO 17799
    standards
-- Improved services offered to students, faculty and staff
-- Proactive remediation efforts to correct network deficiencies
-- Successful compliance audits -- for any regulation affecting the
    university

Other Ohio Dominican University technology partners receiving the award are Jacadis, P3 Strategic and Qualys.

"Educational institutions are inherently one of the biggest targets for data breaches and illegitimate network actions, due to the treasure trove of personal and financial information on thousands of students, staff and alumni," said Michelle Dickman, president and CEO of TriGeo Network Security. "Ohio Dominican University is setting a strong example that other schools should follow, and we're honored to be a part of the university's achievements."

TriGeo is consistently recognized for its innovative approach to network security for the midmarket. In April, the company won SC Magazine's prestigious Readers' Trust Award for Best Event Management Solution -- for the second year in a row -- and was named the #1 technology innovator on Bank Technology News' FutureNow List. The company also just launched its blog, TriGeoSphere, to discuss midmarket monitoring, compliance and network security trends.

TriGeo was the first SIEM company to identify and answer the security and compliance needs of midmarket organizations with a solution that proactively monitors and blocks anomalous network activity in real time. The solution comes stocked with more than 600 network monitoring rules and 240 pre-built reports for compliance and network analysis, with prices starting below $20,000. TriGeo has hundreds of customers across education, financial services, healthcare, government, utility, retail and media/entertainment.
