Regional Firm Successfully Prosecutes Flood Claim
COLUMBUS, Ohio, Aug. 19 /PRNewswire/ -- Schottenstein Zox & Dunn Co., LPA,
(SZD) has successfully prosecuted a claim against the Ohio Department of
Natural Resources for flooding damage to a small business owner.
Led by Stephen P. Samuels, partner and leader of SZD's Environmental
Practice Group, SZD's trial team obtained a favorable decision for its client,
Case Leasing & Rental, Inc., ofCelina, Ohio. The court's decision found the
Department of Natural Resources liable for the destruction of the client's
multi-million dollar business, which was destroyed by flooding of Grand Lake
St. Mary's, a state-owned and managed lake located inNorthwest Ohio.
SZD's team employed detailed hydrologic and geotechnical analysis to prove
the Department was negligent in the design and operation of the lake spillway
which caused massive flooding in the area.
