Motive Industries Inc. is a specialized vehicle design and engineering firm operating out of Calgary, Canada, by entrepreneurs Nathan Armstrong and Darren McKeague. Using the latest in hi-tech developments in design, engineering and prototyping the Motive team had their submission accepted by the X-prize Organization for the Progressive Automotive X-Prize Competition. The goal of the competition is to inspire a new generation of viable, super-efficient vehicles that are environmentally conscious while being consumer oriented rather than concept cars.

The criteria for the vehicles entering the X-prize Competition includes global benefits; fuel efficiency; a "level playing field" that attracts both existing automobile manufacturers and newcomers; attracts investors and sponsors and educates the public on key issues. As the official Media Partner, bnetTV.com will be covering the evolution of the car's design and Competition milestones. The Competition closes January 2009.

The mission of Motive Industries is to drive innovation within the transportation sector using the latest in high tech developments in design, engineering and prototyping. With successes in their portfolio such as the Aptera Typ-1 vehicle (think iPod on wheels!) and the Icon A5 aircraft (Shark-like attributes), the team at Motive has embarked on their latest innovation for the car of the future: the Switch. The Switch is a battery exchange hybrid vehicle and their profound submission into the X-prize Competition.

bnetTV reporter Michelle Sklar had the opportunity to speak with Motive Industries President and Vice President of Engineering, Nathan Armstrong, in their workshop in Calgary. Michelle commented, "The Switch is such a revolutionary car; battery powered and computer controlled is one thing, actually being consumer oriented is what makes it most exciting."
