Metro Station Ready to Launch 'Disco Balls & Blow Up Dolls,' the Group's First Ever North American Headline Tour Beginning in October

NEW YORK, Aug. 19 /PRNewswire/ -- The rapidly rising youngHollywood-based electro-pop/rock quartet Metro Station will headline a major North American tour -- dubbed Disco Balls & Blow Up Dolls -- this fall beginning October 15 inNashville, Tennessee and finishing November 29 inAnaheim, California (please see full itinerary following).

Metro Station's Disco Balls & Blow Up Dolls tour will showcase sets from stellar support acts including the alternative hip-hop duo Shwayze, pop rapper Tyga, and emergentNew Jersey popsters Cash Cash.

Currently winding up a series of shows as one of the featured attractions on the Soundtrack Of Your Summer Tour 2008 with Columbia Records labelmates Boys Like Girls and Good Charlotte, Metro Station will preface its North American headline tour with a string of Canadian dates running through September 13 as support act for Simple Plan.

Among the band's upcoming television appearances, Metro Station has been confirmed to appear on ABC's "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" on September 4. Metro Station made its national television debut on Wednesday, August 13, performing the group's current Top 10 single, "Shake It," on "Good Morning America."

"Shake It," the latest single from the band's debut album "Metro Station", has been awarded RIAA Gold and Platinum certifications while becoming the first Metro Station record to break into the Top 10 of the U.S. Hot 100 chart. The first Metro Station single to reach Top 5 -- it peaked at #4 -- on America's Top 40 Pop Radio (BDS) charts, "Shake It" remains in the Top 10 -- it's currently #7 -- of the Billboard Pop 100 Airplay chart after 20 weeks on that chart.

"Shake It," which has sold more than 1.2 million copies in the U.S. to-date, rocketed into Billboard's Pop 100 (#7), Pop 100 Airplay (#5), Hot Digital Songs (#3), and Top 40 Mainstream (#11) charts.

The "Shake It" video, which has been viewed more than 9 million times on YouTube, is in rotation at The N, FUSE and MTV's TRL, where it has achieved Top 10 status.

"Shake It," which may be heard in TV spots for the "What Happens In Vegas ... " campaign, was chosen as the official theme song for the 2008 Teen Choice Awards, which aired on August 4 on FOX.

"Seventeen Forever," the upcoming new single from Metro Station, is a featured track on the soundtrack for the new film "The Sisterhood Of The Traveling Pants 2," which opened nationwide on August 6.

In addition to the band's more than 15.2 million plays and nearly 17 million profile views on its MySpace page, Metro Station may be heard on more than 100 American Pop radio stations coast-to-coast.

Metro Station is currently enjoying the success of the band's self-titled debut album, which has achieved Top 40 status on the Billboard 200 best-selling albums chart while reaching #1 on the Billboard Top Electronic Albums chart and #2 on the Billboard Heatseekers chart for emerging new bands.

Since the band's inception in late 2006, the nation's music press has been incredibly responsive to the fresh young sound and attitude of Metro Station. Rolling Stone picked Metro Station for a "Breaking Artist" feature in the magazine's August 7, 2008 while USA Today (July 13, 2008) made Metro Station the subject of a major "On The Verge" feature. Early press champions of Metro Station included Alternative Press (July 2007), Teen Vogue ("Best New Unsigned Artist" in April 2007), and URB magazine, among many others.

Metro Station is Trace Cyrus (vocals, guitar), Mason Musso (vocals, guitar), Blake Healy (keyboards, synthesizer), and Anthony Improgo (percussion).
