RAE Systems' Wireless Chemical/Radiation Sensor Systems Win Expanded Deployment With U.S. National Guard With Contract Valued at Over $3 Million
Stainless Steel AreaRAE Wireless Systems Selected

RAE Systems Inc. (AMEX: RAE), a leader in
delivering innovative sensor solutions to serve industrial, energy,
environmental, and government safety markets worldwide, today announced
that RAE Systems has delivered to the United States National Guard
additional AreaRAE wireless Rapid Deployment Kits (RDKs) to equip all 57
Civil Support Teams (CSTs) throughout the entire United States and its
territories with portable toxic gas and radiation detection equipment and
RAELink3 portable radio modems. The contract was valued at more than $3
million.

"Over the last several years we have seen the National Guard Civil Support
Teams deployed for both disaster response and major public venue
protection," said Robert Chen, president and chief executive officer for
RAE Systems. "We are proud to have been selected for this second round
purchase to further equip the teams and to have our wireless sensor
networks provide life-critical and time-critical information."
The rapidly deployable AreaRAE wireless toxic gas and radiation detection
systems are designed to interface with existing AreaRAE systems already in
use by the CSTs as well as many civilian first responders. The AreaRAE RDK
is designed to be quickly configured and deployed in any response scenario
and can integrate with a wide range of detection equipment, including RAE
Systems' portable monitors and third-party devices.
The RAELink3 can be configured in the field to operate in multiple modes.
When set as a repeater it extends the radio range of the AreaRAE system and
gives the teams the flexibility to transmit sensor data around obstacles
and buildings. RAELink3 modems can also link handheld, portable monitors
to an AreaRAE system, allowing remote viewing of sensor and global
positioning data.
There are currently 57 National Guard CST units deployed across the United
States and U.S. territories on standby seven days a week, 24 hours a day.
They are equipped to respond within 90 minutes of an incident. CSTs have
provided support to civil authorities in every major event since 1999,
including Hurricane Katrina and at major public events.
