CaseStack Announces New Laredo, TX Warehouse Location; Officials Call Site Ideal for Mexico-U.S. Trade

CaseStack officials announced today a
brand new addition to their expanding consolidation program that will
support and facilitate logistics from Mexican manufacturing companies to
U.S. retailers, especially Walmart.
While the CaseStack consolidation program already has successful one- and
five-warehousing programs operating out of Atlanta, Chicago, Dallas, Los
Angeles and Scranton, Penn., the program gained another location in Laredo,
Texas. This solution, with shipments planned to arrive at Walmart DCs
beginning Oct. 1, will bring meaningful savings to participating suppliers
and enable product to be delivered directly from the Laredo port of entry
to Walmart's distribution centers.
Located just a few miles from the U.S.-Mexico border, the cross-docking
location will serve as a gateway for Mexican products to enter the U.S.
market. In addition to streamlining the supply chain management process,
the program provides a sustainable solution to a common logistics
consideration. Instead of shipping various products LTL and to numerous
locations prior to its final destination, each product will be combined
onto a full truckload and move directly to a Walmart DC. This reduces the
total transit time and reduces carbon dioxide emissions.
CaseStack CEO and President Dan Sanker said the consolidation program's
growth will help additional Mexican companies take advantage of the growing
Hispanic consumer products market in the United States.
"Laredo is about the opportunity to grow U.S. distribution in the most
efficient, effective and sustainable way," Sanker said. "This solution was
created to enhance the business of Mexican CPG clients and companies with
Mexico-produced products."
The Laredo addition will:
-- Cut Dock Congestion,
-- Cut the number of LTLs (less than truckloads) on roadways,
-- Cut carbon emissions,
-- Cut supplier transportation costs,
-- Eliminate "shipping air,"
-- Deliver a high on-time rate (averaging 97%),
-- Strengthen the relationship between Mexico manufacturers and Walmart,
-- Reduce consumer product costs,
-- Reduce minimum orders, and
-- Reduce transit time.
The cross docking opportunities in Laredo will provide a new vendor pool
for Walmart along with transportation to all 42 Walmart Regional
Distribution Centers nationwide.
To celebrate this logistics solution, CaseStack will host the Mexican
Logistics Symposium at the Rogers, Ark. World Trade Center on Sept. 24,
2008. The program is scheduled to begin at 11:30 a.m. Representatives from
the World Trade Center, League of United Latin American Citizens,
CaseStack, Wal-Mart and several clients will speak about the economic,
foreign relations and cultural implications of trade between the U.S. and
Mexico. A sales presentation will follow at 2 p.m.
Prearranged interviews for members of the print media will begin at 10 a.m.
Radio and television interviews will begin at 2 p.m. All interviews must be
arranged in advance and will be in 15 minute increments.
