Mayor of Remote Town Issues Plea for Ugly Women to Move There

"A plea for lovelorn female 'ugly ducklings' to move to a remote Australian mining town to reverse a shortage of eligible women has landed the local mayor in hot water.

Mount Isa Mayor John Molony was refusing to apologize on Monday for angering local women with a suggestion that 'with five blokes to every girl, may I suggest that beauty-disadvantaged women should proceed to Mount Isa,' in north-west Queensland state."

Quotation from Reuters

Let me begin by commending Mayor Molony for refusing to apologize. Desperate times call for desperate measures, and he took a bold action to correct an untenable situation.

Aussies are the embodiment of machismo, and they are not prone to offer apologies at the drop of a hat. In contrast American politicians are wuzzes who apologize for slights, real or imagined. American politicians have even apologized for slavery, and other events that occurred ages ago. I'm surprised a politically-correct twit hasn't apologized for the extinction of the dinosaurs.

The mayor put out a desperate call for "ugly duckling" women to move to his remote town, realizing that the men were in danger of unseemly fraternization with Dingoes and Kangaroos.

If dudes outnumbered gals by five to one in my small town, and our mayor issued a similar call; I would thank my lucky stars that he wasn't a politically-correct eunuch.

According to the Reuters article critics complained that the mayor's proclamation "suggests the men will settle for anything." Duh, if the choice is between a Dingo or a less than attractive lady, darn tooting a guy will settle for any female.

I hope the mayor's plea results in a flock of ugly ducklings relocating to his town, where they will be treated like beautiful swans by the lonely men.
