Yosemite Technologies Delivers Yosemite Backup 8.7(TM) With Enhanced Disaster Recovery for Microsoft Vista and Windows Server 2008
Latest Version of Yosemite Backup Also Includes Support for Microsoft Windows Hyper-V and Windows PE-Based Bare-Metal Disaster Recovery

Yosemite Technologies, Inc., a global
provider of total data protection solutions, today announced it has added
full support for Microsoft Vista and Windows Server 2008 operating systems
with the immediate release of Yosemite Backup(TM) 8.7. This latest version
of Yosemite's popular server backup solution extends its ability to protect
virtual environments to now include Microsoft Windows Hyper-V, in addition
to existing support for VMware, delivering a simple and reliable solution
to customers who use virtual machines.
Also featured in Yosemite Backup 8.7 is updated bare-metal disaster
recovery utilizing the latest version of Windows PE (WinPE 2.1) for Vista
and Windows Server 2008. This will allow for recovery to dissimilar
hardware and set the stage for further BMDR functionality in future
versions of the product.
"With Yosemite Backup 8.7 we're providing easy to use, reliable backup for
all of the latest Windows operating systems along with continued support
for NetWare and multiple versions of Linux," said Brian Gardner, vice
president, product & technology management, Yosemite Technologies. "This
added Windows support allows us to pursue new customers while enabling our
current customers to seamlessly update their environments. 8.7 is yet
another example of Yosemite's ability to deliver easy to use yet powerful
solutions that meet customer demands."
Existing Yosemite Technologies' customers benefit from the release of
Yosemite Backup 8.7 as the new version takes advantage of the automated
push functionality first implemented in the 8.5 release. This feature
enables existing customers to update their Master Backup Server and have
updates automatically installed on all of the deployed backup clients.
With iSCSI gaining popularity in small and medium-sized businesses,
Yosemite has also included SAN and shared device support with all Yosemite
Backup Media Servers rather than requiring the purchase of a separate SAN
Media Server.
Yosemite Backup 8.7 also supports Windows 2008 services including Microsoft
DFS (necessary in order to update to Windows 2008) and Windows Server®
2008 Active Directory® Lightweight Directory Services (AD LDS). The new
release adds support for the latest versions of Microsoft applications,
SharePoint 3.0 SP1 and Exchange 2007 SP1.
Also with Yosemite Backup 8.7, Yosemite is introducing the Yosemite Backup
software development kit (SDK) version 1.0. Available to Yosemite's
channel and OEM partners, the kit gives partners the ability to create
solutions that build on Yosemite's flexible backup technology as part of
the overall solution. Partners have the option to keep the Yosemite Backup
SDK hidden from the user and controlled by other applications. The Yosemite
Backup 8.7 SDK provides access to the same proven, robust API upon which
the shipping product is based.
Yosemite Backup 8.7 is immediately available and has already begun
shipping. For more information about Yosemite Backup 8.7, the Yosemite
Backup SDK version 1.0 or Yosemite Technologies in general, please visit
