Author Publishes Original Novella Exclusively on Ebay

In what may be a first for the online auction giant, Ebay has recently become the exclusive home to an original novella series penned by author Kamichi Jackson. The lighthearted drama is titled The Memory Keeper of Cricket Cove, and is the fictional story of Dylan Carmichael, a young aspiring writer who spends the summer after graduation working for the wealthy family of Dorothea Standish - a well-loved eccentric old woman known to pilfer small objects from residents and tourists of the small New England town of Cricket Cove. Dylan is hired to discreetly return as many items as possible to their rightful owners. In doing so, she is exposed to more stories and characters than any writer could ever hope to be, all of which makes for fun reading and sets Dylan on a path she might never have travelled were it not for this assignment.

What is unique about the project is that several of the real items featured in the series will be sold on Ebay with the release of each chapter. In later installments, readers will have the chance to bid on items before they are featured, and will thus win the opportunity to be incorporated into the storyline as a new character.

Jackson explains, "I've often wondered what it is that makes people bid hundreds and sometimes thousands of dollars for some of the crazy things that appear on Ebay. And then I read a comment by an Ebayer who wrote that it's the story behind the item that makes them want to own it. That's what makes the difference.

Well, storytelling is what I do! So I decided to create a fictional series written entirely around items I could sell on Ebay as part of a sort of interactive literary experience. Most of these won't be new. They'll be small items with character - weathered and quaint, like they have a bit of history to them. Those are the types of items that attract the old woman character in the series. I think it'll be a lot of fun. If nothing else, it'll give me something new to add to my growing portfolio of unpublished work that I hope will someday be recognized and published."

Each Ebay listing posted by the author will feature a new installment of the story, as well as a description and picture of the object to be sold. The introductory chapter of The Memory Keeper of Cricket Cove will appear exclusively on the author's website at www.kamichijackson.com. The first 7-day auction began August 12th.

Kamichi Jackson is the author of the middle reader book You're Too Much, Reggie Brown, an upcoming young adult title (K My Name Is Kendra), a forthcoming adult novel (The Brownstone), four unproduced screenplays ("On the Dotted Line", Last Weekend", "When the Daystar Rises" and "Cynda"), and several short stories, one of which (Scenes From the Indigo Lounge: Where Present Meets Past) was originally released as an exclusive download at Amazon.com.

KJ has made numerous appearances, among them the Baltimore Book Festival, and was a featured author at the 2006 Houston Black Film Festival. The talented author has recently joined the Mary J. Blige and Steve Stoute Foundation For the Advancement of Women Now (FAWN) as a blogger and is a member of the National Association of Black Female Executives in Music & Entertainment, the Hurston-Wright Foundation, and the Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators. KJ currently resides in Northern Virginia.
