Former NASA Astronaut Edgar Mitchell: Aliens Have Visited Earth

"Former Apollo 14 moonwalker Edgar Mitchell claimed, in a recent radio interview, that not only have aliens been visiting the Earth for the past sixty years since the Roswell incident, but that Earth governments are aware of this fact and are covering it up.

Edgar Mitchell claims that sources at NASA, the military, and the intelligence community have described these aliens as, "little people who look strange to us." The aliens have a small body frame, a large head, and large eyes as has been traditionally depicted in popular films and television."

It's usually a hillbilly, guzzling from a jug of moonshine, staring into a camera and swearing he saw a UFO from the porch of his mobile home. It's easy to dismiss these characters, and lament that intelligent life on earth is very rare indeed.

But when a former NASA astronaut claims that aliens have visited the Earth, we must take him seriously, right?

Wrong!

At first glance Mitchell seems like a credible authority on the subject of UFO's, but we mustn't forget that he's 77. When you get that age you start believing in UFO's, the infallibility of George W. Bush and the Depends fairy.

If McCain claims that the greatest threat to American is the invasion of illegal aliens from the South (The South of Mars), then you know that he's in the same boat as Mitchell

But actually Mitchell has had a penchant for indulging in esoteric subjects for a long time:

"Mitchell's interests include consciousness and paranormal phenomena. During the Apollo 14 flight he conducted private ESP experiments with his friends on Earth. In early 1973, he founded the nonprofit Institute of Noetic Sciences (IONS) to conduct and sponsor research into areas that mainstream science has ignored, including consciousness research and psychic events.

Mitchell says that a teenage remote healer who lives in Vancouver and uses the pseudonym Adam Dreamhealer, helped heal him of kidney cancer at a distance."

Let me try an ESP experiment:

Earth to Mitchell. I am speaking to you telepathically. You are a nutcase. The only aliens are in your Star Trek DVD collection. Please shut up.

Mitchell claims that aliens look like "little people who look strange to us". Did this description of aliens stick in Mitchell's mind after he had a meeting with fellow UFO fan Dennis Kucinich?

NASA, of course, denies there is a conspiracy to cover up the existence of extraterrestrial beings.
