Soboba Band of Luiseno Indians and Bureau of Indian Affairs Set Open Forum on Public Law 280 for August 11th
SOBOBA INDIAN RESERVATION,SAN JACINTO, Calif., July 24 /PRNewswire/ --
The Soboba Band of Luiseno Indians and the Bureau of Indian Affairs will hold
an open forum to discuss Public Law 280 on August 11th, to which they have
invited tribal leaders throughoutCalifornia, along with other Native American
authorities, scholars, and representatives from state, county, and local
governments.
"In light of recent tragic events on our Reservation, and in follow-up to
the subsequent mediation agreement between our Tribe and theRiverside County
Sheriff's Department, the urgency and importance of this discussion cannot be
emphasized strongly enough," said Soboba Tribal Chairman, Robert Salgado.
The meeting will be held at The Country Club at Soboba Springs, 1020
Soboba Road inSan Jacinto, California starting at 10:00 A.M.
