Cisco EDGE QUEST was an online game introduced in tandem with the
launch of the new Cisco ASR 1000
Series Routers, the world's most powerful compact router. The game
allows players to virtually experience the benefits of the Cisco ASR 1000
Series Routers through simulations that highlight the traffic
prioritization, intelligence, security defense, speed and scale of now
available at the network edge.
-
Cisco EDGE QUEST allows players, or "agents," to maneuver a router
craft through various levels to defend the network edge from a wide array
of service demands. Players are introduced to the powerful Cisco Quantum Flow processor and are guided on
their quest by Edge Commanders (aka cameos of Cisco senior executives who
headed the development of the platform).
Cisco EDGE QUEST is still available for play online. Cisco has
refreshed the online game with a new Tournament version featuring four new
playing levels that are now generally available here: www.cisco.com/go/edgequest. These new
levels add new challenges for players to continue testing their skill and
knowledge of the unique benefits that the Cisco ASR 1000 Series Routers can
deliver to service providers and enterprises alike.

"The Cisco EDGE QUEST Tournament of Aces allowed Cisco to engage with
our customers in a uniquely interactive and entertaining way while
showcasing the unique, innovative capabilities of our new Cisco ASR Series
of routers," said Doug Webster, director of service provider marketing for
Cisco.
"The interest and enthusiasm we saw from players for the Cisco EDGE
QUEST Tournament of Aces far exceeded our expectations and ultimately
demonstrated to us that our customers and the market were indeed receptive
to seeing Cisco take a more nontraditional approach to marketing," Webster
continued.
"The Cisco EDGE QUEST Tournament of Aces exemplifies a truly virtual,
viral and visual way Cisco is connecting with its customers," said Randy

Player feedback: Posted by Robbie on the Cisco SP360 Blog. "I just finished my money round
and let me say it was challenging and fun at the same time. This is the
first time ever I have been able to play a 'free' game and learn about a
product and possibly win prizes. I think Cisco really did a great job on
this new concept of gaming and promotion of new products. Cisco
RULES!"
"Congratulations to our winner, and many thanks to the tens of
thousands of participants in the EDGE QUEST tournament. We had a fun time
hosting it and hope they enjoyed it as well. Be on the lookout for new
opportunities to interact with Cisco in the future, but until then, as the
EDGE QUEST commanders state, 'Live long and network,'" Webster
concluded.
