Customers from all tax brackets are choosing to eat at home instead of spending money dining out, according to new research from The Nielsen Company. The study found two-thirds of customers are reducing their discretionary spending, which represents a steady increase in reduced spending over the past few months. "While discretionary spending is likely to be a challenge for most low and middle income shoppers, even affluent consumers are looking for ways to make their dollars go further," said Todd Hale, Nielsen's SVP of Consumer & Shopper Insights.
