Tell the Republicans to Make the UN a Priority

Last week, we asked you to tell the Democrats to make supporting the UN a priority in their official party platform. Now, through a new "online platform" created by the Republican National Committee, you can send the same message to Republicans as they formulate their positions for the 2008 elections.

Click here to urge Republicans to support a strong U.S. - United Nations relationship in their 2008 platform! http://www.globalproblems-globalsolutions.org/site/R?i=pLf9kF_c4op-MvB0MIyX-A.

Just like the Democrats' series of platform meetings across the country, the Republicans' online platform provides a historic opportunity for citizens like us to influence the shape of the national party's policy. Once again, the process is simple:

1. Sign up for a platform account by clicking here. This will allow you to log in, participate in issue polls, and submit your ideas for the 2008 Republican Party platform.

2. Under the "National Security" issue category, submit your ideas on how Republicans can bolster the U.S.-UN relationship. Check out the Better World Campaign's website to learn more about how working through UN both advances American interests and helps improve our standing in the world.

3. Make sure to also send your ideas to On Day One, our own venue to collect proposals on how the next president should address key international challenges.

Advancing international cooperation and strengthening U.S. support fort he UN are not partisan issues. These are tangible means through which the U.S. can better achieve its foreign policy objectives and improve its image in the eyes of the world.

Both Senators Obama and McCain have recognized the importance of working with other countries and of restoring America's reputation in the world. With this novel opportunity for citizens to contribute to each party's platform, we should push for Democrats and Republicans alike to voice strong support for the UN.

Tell Republicans that supporting the UN should be a key component of
their 2008 platform!

Make your opinion heard. The next president is listening.

Best regards,
Your Friends at The Better World Campaign
