Joining Worldwide Appeals for Religious Reconciliation, Chicago Organization Develops Online Prayer Community
In the hopes of reconciling tensions between
the world's major religions, Saudi King Abdullah opened an interfaith
conference in Madrid Wednesday. With the same goal of interfaith dialogue,
a Chicago-based communications agency recently developed Pray At Abraham's
Table, an online community committed to religious understanding and prayers
for peace.
Created by Derek Simons of Angels Studio, a communications agency in
Chicago, Abraham's Table invites Jews, Christians, Muslims and people of
all faiths to share their prayers for peace online. Described as a
"mingling of shared prayers to our one God," Abraham's Table allows
visitors to the web site to post their own reflections, explore the prayers
of other faith traditions, and discover ways to nurture peace in their own
lives.
Inspired by the common roots of the world's three largest religions -- all
branches of the family tree of Abraham -- Simons created the online
gathering place to "foster a more positive, peaceful bond with different
faiths." He explains, "While religions have often misunderstood each other,
we are probably more aware than ever of the dangers of intolerance in our
world. Abraham's Table is, we hope, a place where visitors can open their
hearts to different traditions and different people -- all of whom share
the common goal of peace in our world."
About Abraham's Table
Pray At Abraham's Table is a new media initiative of Angels Studio in
Chicago. Angels Studio is a communications agency devoted to building
bridges of cooperation between different faith groups using the digital and
expressive arts. As a communications ministry of the international Roman
Catholic Order - the Society of The Divine Word, this community serves
people of faith, or without faith, around the world, in the belief that
there is a place for All God's Children at the table of life. Dialogue and
cooperation with other faith traditions is a priority of this community.
