Con-way Freight Celebrates 20 Years of Growth and Expansion in West Virginia, 25th Anniversary of Nationwide Operations

WHAT: Twenty-five years ago, Con-way Freight started as a new business
venture in the U.S. freight transportation industry. In 1987, the
company opened its first service center in West Virginia in
Triadelphia. Today, Con-way Freight employs 167 West Virginia
residents at 13 locations. Nationally, the company has become one
of America's leading less-than-truckload (LTL) motor carriers with
more than 400 locations, some 20,000 total employees and a fleet of
more than 32,000 tractors and trailers.
Con-way Freight's 75 local employees will mark the company's silver
anniversary and long history of growth in West Virginia with a
celebration including a proclamation presented by West Virginia
Governor Joe Manchin III. The company will also honor six of its
West Virginia driver sales representatives -- four who recently
reached million-mile safe driving milestones and two whose
victories at the state level in West Virginia qualified them for
the upcoming National Truck Driving Championships set for Houston
Aug. 19-23, 2008.
