Female Soldiers Stationed In America Murdered: Where's The Outrage?

Our soldiers in Iraq and Afghanistan risk bodily injury and death every day, unfortunately female soldiers stationed in America also risk death. It's not jihadists who are murdering our women soldiers in the homeland, but jealous lovers or perhaps a serial killer.

It's an outrage that we can't seem to adequately protect our female soldiers who are stationed in bases in America, a place where they should feel safe and secure.

The first case is that of Lance Corporal Maria Frances Lauterbach, she was eight months pregnant when she was brutally murdered:

"Lance Corporal Maria Frances Lauterbach was a United States Marine who went missing from Camp Lejeune, North Carolina on December 14, 2007.

The burned remains of Maria Lauterbach and her unborn child were found in a fire pit in Corporal Cesar Armando Laurean's backyard. They also found a lot of her blood in Laurean's house in Jacksonville, N.C. Laurean has been reported as having tried to clean up the scene."

Laurean fled to Mexico, but he was later apprehended in Mexico and extradited to the United States. Laurean had a motive for murdering Lauterbach, because Maria had accused him of sexually assaulting her.

Then there's the case of Megan Touma, another pregnant soldier stationed in America who was murdered.

"The U.S. Army Criminal Investigation Command said Friday that 23-year-old Army Spc. Megan Touma of Cold Spring, Ky., was a homicide victim.

Touma was found dead in a bathtub in a Fayetteville motel room June 21. Her body was found after a maintenance supervisor smelled a foul odor.

Touma was seven months pregnant and had recently arrived from a base in Germany."

A letter has been sent to law enforcement officials, claiming to be from the killer, in which he makes an allusion to the Zodiac Killer, who terrorized the San Francisco Bay Area in the 60's.

The most recent case is of Lt. Holley Wimunc, she has been reported missing from Fort Bragg:

"Authorities are searching for a female Fort Bragg soldier who has been reported missing following a suspicious fire at her apartment near the base.

Firefighters arrived at the apartment of 2nd Lt. Holley Wimunc, 24, on Thursday morning yet no body was found. Investigators are handling the fire as an arson case and Wimunc is now considered a missing person."

These murders have some obvious similarities, a special task force should be created to investigate these three cases. That's the least we can do for the brave female soldiers who sacrifice so much for their country.
