Octagon's StartingPoint Attracts 100 Clients

CEO & Chairman Jim Walker of Octagon Research Solutions, Inc., a pioneer and leading provider of breakthrough software and services to the life sciences industry, today announced that the company has contracted with its 100th StartingPointŪ client. StartingPoint is Octagon's suite of global submission document authoring templates.

This milestone achievement illustrates the success of the product as a foundation for eCTD submission authoring. 2008 sales to date represent a 22% increase over last year's StartingPoint sales. This increase is attributed to the accelerated interest in implementing the electronic Common Technical Document (eCTD) submission format which is based on the US FDA's and other regulatory authorities' willingness to accept electronic submissions in this format.

The StartingPoint metrics are complemented by other related achievements from within Octagon's Process Solutions division, including:

  • Process Solutions has over 40 eCTD JumpstartT engagements to date

  • Process Solutions consultants have conducted over 20 submission capability assessments

StartingPoint is often purchased in conjunction with eCTD Jumpstart, a packaged solution that provides authoring standards and processes for quick implementation across an organization. "These tools are clearly gaining momentum with sponsors companies that want to move forward with electronic submissions in the most efficient manner", noted John Lawrie, vice president, Process Solutions.

The next minor release of StartingPoint will be available in 3rd Quarter, 2008. This release will include additional content templates to support generic applications as well as templates to support the development of statistical documentation.
