Starbucks Magnet For Slackers, Barista Groupies, Wi-Fi Moochers

By Robert Paul Reyes

Coffee is the fuel that keeps my brain engaged, every morning I stop at a 7/11 or a McDonald's where I can get a good cup of coffee at a decent price.

As much as I love a cup of Joe, I would rather drink a cup of mud than patronize Starbucks.

Starbucks is a magnet for trendies, slackers, slack-jawed professional students, coffee snobs, lightweight philosophers, Wi-Fi moochers, barista groupies, New Age simpletons, and other riff- raff. Why would any red-blooded patriotic American want to surround himself with social misfits?

Coffee is coffee is coffee, you can give it a fancy name and charge a small fortune for a cup, but it's still coffee. The coffee served at McDonald's and Dunkin' Donuts is preferred over the best that Starbucks has to offer in many taste tests.

I'm delighted that Starbucks is undergoing financial woes, it couldn't happen to a more deserving conglomerate.

"Financial woes at Starbucks Corp., which is planning to close 600 underperforming U.S. stores, is evoking glee and little sympathy from aficionados who say they resent the coffee shop giant and favor small independent cafes.

'I'm so happy. I'm so not a Starbucks person,' said Melinda Vigliotti, sipping iced coffee at the Irving Farm Coffee House in New York. 'I believe in supporting small businesses. Starbucks, bye-bye.'"

I'm so in agreement with Melinda, I will never darken the door of a Starbucks. Why give my hard-earned money to a company that makes Oil Barons look like Sunday School teachers?

I'm going to drink a Dunkin' Donuts cup of coffee and make a toast to the demise of Starbucks.
