Pakistani Militant Involved in Attacks on Tourists Killed in Kashmir

Srinagar, July 3: A Pakistani militant commander alleged involved in attacks on tourists was killed in a gunfight in Kashmir on Thursday.
Kashmir's Police chief, S M Sahai told media on Thursday that a top Pakistani militant identified as Abu Atif alias Shadak of Gujranwalian, Pakistan was killed in a four hour long gunfight with troops at Naina, Batapora, Sangam area in South Kashmir. He said that the body guard of the militant commander was also killed in the gunfight.
The militant commander was involved in the attacks on tourists in Shalimar, Srinagar and Charsoo in South Kashmir.
At least five tourists were killed when a bus carrying them was attacked with a grenade by militants in Shalimar area last year. Two civilians were also killed in the blast.
In the second attack on the tourist bus at Charsoo in South Kashmir, three tourists were killed.
The police chief termed the killing of the Pakistani militant commander as a major setback to Lashkar-e-Toiba.
