WeatherBug Provides Meteorological Support, Tracks Local Weather Conditions During Boston's 4th of July Celebration
WeatherBug Team Positioned at Unified Command Center With Federal, State and Local Agencies

WeatherBug®, the leading provider
of live, local weather information and services, announced today they will
provide local meteorological support for the 4th of July celebration on the
Charles River Esplanade in Boston. Representatives from WeatherBug Professional
will be positioned alongside more than 50 officials from federal, state and
local agencies at the Unified Command Center (UCC) in Boston's Back Bay.
WeatherBug's on-site team will monitor and track local weather conditions
and severe weather alerts using WeatherBug Streamer, a web-based GIS program used by emergency managers, energy traders, utility companies and
government agencies for the tracking and analysis of live, local
weather conditions. Additionally, WeatherBug Professional's Met
Ops team, located at the company's headquarters in Germantown, Md.,
will provide forecast information and hourly briefings for event organizers
at the UCC.
The UCC facilitates interagency communications to help ensure the safety of
the expected 500,000 attendees at this year's nationally televised event.
WeatherBug also participated at last year's event by setting up operations
in the UCC. The annual 4th of July fireworks and Boston Pops concert is
produced by Mugar Enterprises and Liberty Mutual.
"Weather can change on a dime and can have a huge impact on the safety of
the thousands of attendees and volunteers, if not monitored correctly,"
said John Bosse, manager government, energy, and commercial services,
WeatherBug. "It is an honor to work again with Mugar Enterprises and to
play a part in ensuring the success of this important birthday celebration
in a town that is so much a part of America's history."
WeatherBug Streamer includes a unique combination of historical data and
customizable, up-to-the-second weather reports. In addition to current
weather conditions such as temperature, wind speed and precipitation,
WeatherBug Streamer also includes National Weather Service watches and
warnings and WeatherBug's proprietary severe weather alerts for lightning,
heat index and more.
WeatherBug maintains the world's largest network of weather stations and
cameras. In the Boston area, WeatherBug has 160 live weather stations and
32 weather cameras located primarily at local schools and public
facilities, including live views of Fenway Park in Boston and Gillette Stadium in Foxboro,
Mass. WeatherBug also partners with WBZ-TV in Boston for live, local
weather conditions from the WeatherBug Network which are used on-air and on
their Web site at www.wbztv.com.
Live, local data and images from the WeatherBug Network are also available
through WeatherBug's desktop and mobile applications and on the Web site at
