CVS/pharmacy Delivers Disaster Relief in Iowa Communities Impacted by Recent Flooding
WOONSOCKET, R.I., July 3 /PRNewswire/ -- The CVS Caremark Charitable
Trust, the private foundation managed by CVS Caremark, announced today that it
has donated $100,000 to the American Red Cross for disaster relief efforts
throughout the more than 80 counties inIowa declared federal or state
disaster areas due to recent storms, tornadoes and flooding. In addition,
CVS/pharmacy, the retail division of CVS Caremark, has donated over $35,000 in
product and services to these affected areas.
InCedar Rapids alone, thousands were evacuated and homes were destroyed.
Parts of the downtown area remain without power. The Red Cross has set up
emergency kitchens to feed approximately 6,000 people a day who are trying to
clean up but have no electricity. Responding to an urgent request,
CVS/pharmacy shipped a supply of hand sanitizer, insect repellant, sunscreen
and work gloves to The Red Cross inCedar Rapids.

will help provide relief to affected communities throughout theCentral United
States," said Jeffrey Towers, Chief Development Officer at the American Red
Cross. "CVS is a long-time supporter of the Red Cross, particularly during
times of disaster, and we thank them for their continued generosity."
CVS/pharmacy operates seven stores in the affected flood cities ofCedar
Rapids,Cedar Falls, Iowa City andWaterloo. Items including water, sunscreen,
and diapers were donated directly from stores. Additionally, CVS/pharmacy
associates visited local shelters to assist those displaced from their homes
with medication and various over-the-counter necessities, and to help with the
sand bagging and clean-up efforts.
