Rising Medical Solutions, Inc. Expands Its California Managed Care Services to Include Utilization Review Program

CHICAGO, July 3 /PRNewswire/ -- Rising Medical Solutions, Inc. (Rising), a leading medical cost containment and care management organization, has extended its offerings inCalifornia to include Utilization Review (UR) services in addition to its Medical Bill Review and Medical Provider Network (MPN) services in the State. This product line expansion is part of a corporate wide effort to provide a full-service managed care program in the California market for Rising's existing and growing customer base.

Rising's UR services help to facilitate early intervention, reduce unnecessary future medical treatment, and generate significant customer savings. For itsCalifornia program, the Company has filed the required jurisdictional-specific UR Plan with the State. As a component of Rising's compliance with the California Labor Code section 4610 and the California Code of Regulations, Rising's nurses and professional staff have undergone extensive training on special handling of California UR cases. In addition, Rising's Medical Director holds multiple state licensures, including California.

As a California Utilization Review Organization (URO), Rising creates an addendum to the Company's California UR Plan and files it with the State as a means of differentiating protocols that may not be the same among all customers. The Company has also enhanced its technology efficiencies to address client and state-specific UR workflows and to increase UR processing capacity.

"A result of the workers' compensation reform inCalifornia is that utilization review has become a necessity for writers of insurance there, and with that, comes a host of compliance requirements and strong delivery standards for UR service provision," says Anne Kirby, Director of Rising's Medical Review Unit. "We are grateful for the opportunity and responsibility our customers have entrusted to us for their California UR needs and we will remain committed to meeting the State's jurisdictional mandates as well as providing customers with significant care management and cost savings value."

Comments Scott Vogl, Senior Vice President of Claims at Midwest Insurance Company (Midwest), "As a client for many years, we were confident in adding Rising's California UR program to their existingCalifornia medical bill review and MPN programs for Midwest. Rising has demonstrated their UR capabilities for our company in other states, so it is no surprise that we have been very pleased with their implementation and execution of Midwest's California UR program."
